On Wednesday, 22nd October, from 10am to 3:30pm, visitors to Beaumont Shopping Centre are invited to meet the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery team for a special, hands-on community event — a chance to explore real museum treasures, get creative, and share your ideas about future developments at Leicester Museum and Art Gallery on New Walk.

This relaxed and family-friendly drop-in day is all about imagination and conversation. Children can join in a creative activity where they’ll draw or colour in their dream museum, thinking about the kinds of exhibitions they’d love to see. It’s a simple yet inspiring way to get young minds excited about art, science, and history — and about how museums help bring these stories to life.

For adults, this event is an opportunity to have your say in shaping the next chapter of Leicester Museum and Art Gallery. Museums play a vital role in our communities — not only preserving the city’s rich history but also creating spaces where people of all backgrounds and ages can learn, reflect, and connect.

Your feedback will help the Leicester Museums team understand which exhibitions, themes, and experiences are most meaningful to local people. Visitors will also have the rare chance to handle real museum objects, offering a fascinating, tactile link to Leicester’s past. From ancient artefacts to everyday items with incredible stories, these objects remind us how museums keep history alive — and why sharing these stories with others is so important.

Whether you’re stopping by for a bit of shopping or spending the day with family, this event is a wonderful way to engage with Leicester’s cultural heritage. No booking is needed — just drop in between 10am and 3:30pm to take part, chat with the team, and contribute your thoughts.

This event is brought to you by Leicester Museums and Galleries in partnership with Beaumont Shopping Centre.
